When Bess (piano & vocals) and Tom (upright bass, vocals, & harmonica) Jacques play together as a duo you can be sure you will be getting a little bit of jazz, a little bit of country, and all the good stuff in between. The husband and wife team play together regularly as a duo at the Lincoln Hotel in Biddeford, and also in the five-piece jump blues and swing band, The Zoot Jumpers. As a pianist, singer, and songwriter, Bess performs regularly in the greater Portland area, both solo and with various groups. Her music spans jazz, singer-songwriter, and pop styles, combining fresh originals with vintage American classics - think early jazz, the American Songbook, rhythm and blues and soul - for a sound that is both vibrant and nostalgic. Tom Jacques has been part of the local Portland, Maine music scene since the 1990s. In addition to his singing and upright bass, he plays harmonica, mandolin, and guitar. Tom has played hundreds of shows with his past bands, including the bluegrass band The Jerks of Grass and Rob Sylvain’s Acadian Aces.
